don't fall away, i can't face myself

--------------------------------------------------

Thoughts of the Day: The mind is a complex and sometimes catastrophic thing. It controls your entire being, every thought, every action. The mind can also betray you, trick you, become your own undoing. Then again, the mind can reward you, with intense intellect, compassion, or anything else imaginable. So why is it then, that we fear the mind like we do? We are always so concerned with what we do, that we will mess up, and blame on someone else. We are responsible for our actions, are we not? But then again, why not blame it on the mind, it is it's fault that we did what we did. Right?

Think again.

Narrator: Shall we describe our intellectual star? Some say that they don't like horses with exotic coats that stand out from the crowd, that horses should blend with their surroundings and become one with the earth. I, on the other hand think opposite. I think a horse with a distinct coat is beautiful within itself. Blue roan you may call him. His coat is a grey/blue tint whereas his head, legs, and mane/tail are a solid black. There also appears to have been some paint heritage within him, for he has stripes, quite like that of a zebra's running up and down his legs, only they are the color of his mid-section. He is built finely, with a constructed head and massive haunches, as is typical of the AQH breed. Silhouette is stocky and somewhat shorter than most stallion's, he is built lower to to ground for speed and power, as well as excelling in jumping. He's rugged and tough, as were his great ancestors the Mustangs.

But enough about him, let him tell his own story.

The early morning sun began to peak over the horizon as birds began chirping and the crickets ceased for the day. The river was still, only disturbed by the faint ripples caused by the fish searching for breakfast. The sky was a glorious array of light, peaked with gold and only slightly hinting of the night before red. As more and more animals began to wake and begin their day, a lone stag slept quietly beneath the bows of a willow tree. His black nose was pressed softly into the topography and his knees were folded beneath him. Birds swooped over top of him, searching for the early worm, but he did not stir. He slept on, serenely, unbeknowest of the world around him.

A cricket hopped over the emerald grass blades as it made it's way back into seclusion for the day. He jumped closer and closer to the sleeping stallion. The cricket came to a halt less than an inch away from the stallion's nose, and paused for half a second, before it lept directly into the stallion's nostril. Silhouette jerked awake and snorted fantastically, sending the cricket flying to God knows where. The blue stallion blinked slowly, gathering his bearing as he looked around him slowly. He smiled as he took in what had occurred and laughed softly to himself. Silhouette yawned widely and then placed his front legs before him and launched himself into the air. His mane was tangled haphazardly, and twigs and burrs were caught in his usually silken tail.

He surveyed these circumstances with a scrutinizing eye, and found them unacceptable. He gave one look around and then lumbered in the direction of the rushing of the river. Once he reached the embankment he lowered his proud cranium to the clear water's and drank, feeling the coolness run down his throat and wake him up instantly. Without notice, he leaned back on his powerful haunches and launched himself forward into the water, creating a tidal-wave strong enough to knock over another equine. He pawed the water, splashing his mane and chest, cleansing himself. He trod further into the water until his hooves no longer met the mud beneath them. He swam a few strides away then turned back, his head the only thing poking out over the water's surface.

He made his way back to the bank slowly, savoring the rush of the cool water on his skin. As he reached it, he clambered up the embankment and shook magnificently, sending a cascade of water droplets in all directions.

I had been up before dawn on my daily herb search. The last couple of days I had been watching a patch of watercress that was growing near the water's edge. It was just about the right size for harvesting. I'd also been watching some nearby cattails. The reedy plants grew in water and I knew I would have to wade to reach the section I was looking at and as I didn't want to risk trampling the watercress that was growing just below the waterline, I had waited. Finally, this morning I had decided to pick the watercress. I would have liked to give it another few days, but the cattails were about to break open and I needed them to take intact for what I used them for. A cattail poultice was a waste if the cattail had already exploded and the seeds had blown away.

Reaching the water's edge, I knelt down and studied the tiny underwater kingdom. Little minnows were swimming around my watercress and I smiled briefly at the serene picture. I never liked dislodging native wildlife, but I needed my watercress. Taking a breath, I was vaguely aware of someone on the opposite side of the stream taking a drink, but I ignored them to focus on my task. I would have to dip my muzzle underwater about a foot to grab what I needed. As I took a breath and was about to dip my head underwater, suddenly an almighty SPLASH resounded. The next thing I knew, a massive wall of water surged over me and I was soaked from my nose to my shoulders with cold stream water.

It was the shock of suddenly being wet that made me unable to speak or I'd have leaped onto the swimming stallion and stomped some sense into him. Gasping and blowing my forelock out of my nostrils, I glanced down at the rough water and saw the minnows were long gone. My watercress, thankfully was still there, though with all the waves, I kept getting slapped with water everytime I tried to go for it. And my cattails? Forget it. They could wait a bit longer. First, I had to go kick someone's stupid brain into gear. With water still dripping off my mane, my neck, well pretty much everywhere above my shoulders, I stood up and glared across the stream at the idiot stallion. My eyes noticed he didn't look like an idiot. He was actually nicely built with a hot shade of blue roan about him. Oh my gosh, not NOW Lyre! You can gawk at how hot he is AFTER you yell at him! I told myself with a sigh as I gathered my breath.

"Hey you moron! Watch what you're doing next time will ya?! Not everyone wants a morning bath at the crack of dawn!" I shouted across the water at him with a fixed glare on my face. I say fixed because honestly, the dude was freaking hot. However, I had a point to make and that was 'not everyone likes to be drenched unawares' or something like that. Though, if the stallion doing the drenching looked like him, maybe it would be alright? I made a note to ponder that later and stiffened up my glare so as to make it appear that I was still very upset with him when I was really trying to figure out what his eye color would be. Was it black or brown? Hmm or maybe blue or green?

don't tell me if i'm dying, 'cause i don't want to know

--------------------------------------------------

Thoughts of the Day: I'd never given much thought to how life was supposed to be lived, or if their was a purpose in life at all. But I believe we all have something to live for, whether it be to change another's life, or teach a child to live another way, we all have worth in being. Even the criminals, the dirty, the sly, they have a purpose. A purpose to warn us of what we are all capable of, what we are capable of doing. So I have to ask, what are you listening to? Or whom? I will listen to myself, and live on the path set before me. A life that I choose, that I feel will lead me right. Through hardship and turmoil, through crazy love and more. Dedication, is perseverance. Strength shall lead the way.

Narrator: Pure in body and soul, our handsome star is. But there is no wrong in living a life full of TLC, is there? Perhaps you may laugh and scorn him, thinking how rash and foolish he is to think that he can live life safely and pure! But in truth, all of us is capable of living that way, we simply choose to fight what we know and change the way of living. To be unique, special, or whatever other word we use today, in truth none of us are unique, unless we make it so.

Silhouette began to make his way back up the small slope until a rustling caught his attention. A rustling...or a voice? No, a rustling, for he dismissed it as so, yet continued to stand stock still, faining lack of interest but, swiveling well practiced ears. Suddenly an angry voice called out to him. A moron? But what could I have done? The blue roan turned, bewildered and locked eyes with a precocious mare glaring harshly at him, positively dripping a waterfall from her shoulders up. Silhouette repressed a laugh at her grungy appearance, although a faint glimpse of his suave smile appeared on his maw for a fraction of a second.

Yet then, it vanished and his face was the usual, handsomely lazy look once more. His onyx eyes were soft and enticing, and his entire expression gave off sincerity, as his unfortunately sexy baritone tunes reached out to her.

"My apologies, querida, I was unaware the morning enticed another as it does me."

He subconsciously tilted his head, giving her that lopsided smile that drove others insane. In truth, he knew partially what he was doing, once he realized it, for he was not one to like anyone to be angry with him. But then again, how can one be so attractive and not have their every move look like a chocolate cupcake?

As I thought, the hot beast, I mean hot moro-- I mean, ugh! Anyways as I thought he wasn't even paying attention to his surroundings! I bet he'd be the type to tramp his lunch and then eat it rather than the other way around. Rolling my eyes, my lyrics finally caught up with loverboy over there and he turned to look at me with... Oooh so he had black eyes! Nice accent color for his stockings... oh for crying out loud! Lyre, get a grip!

Resisting the urge to melt a fraction of my icy stance, I managed to keep my glare intact long enough for him to spot it and realize, oh yes, he'd gotten me wet! With river water people! River water! Gosh, pervettes. Though... if he kept that up... *COUGH!* Yah so moving right along, back to him FINALLY noticing me. Like good grief how couldn't he? I was practically glaring daggers at him. If he was a soft shelled crab, he'd be dead by now I think. Watching him, I noticed his faint look of amusement and my glare shifted into a scowl that dared him to laugh at me. I wasn't just any mare ya know! I could darn well poison his sexy arse if I wanted to. Lucky for him I'd rather his arse ask me out to lunch, but I wasn't sure how to pull that one off with me having to trade evil looks with his sexy one.

"My apologies, querida, I was unaware the morning enticed another as it does me."

Oh. my. gosh, was that like, his usual tone?! And that voice! Oh my gosh it wasn't FAIR! He was freaking hot AND had a sexy voice! I nearly fell in the river. Thankfully, I caught myself so it looked like I just took a step forward. Clearing my vocals, I did my best to adhere my tone to my looks, but it failed miserably as nothing came out the first time I slacked my jaw. Shaking my head and growling at myself for falling for someone with those kind of looks first thing in the morning, I tried again.

"Well yes, perhaps paying attention to one's surroundings next time would be a good idea, hmm?" I said, my tone sounding moderately prim, but weak compared to the look I'd given him earlier. Good grief was it obvious to him that I was itching for him to ask me out on a date? I hoped not. I mean, hey, I like to play hard to get sometimes, but that doesn't mean I don't like getting caught. And certainly I wouldn't mind getting caught by a stallion with that body. D**n, I bet he was good with a mare. I about wanted to slap myself for thinking that, but then again, when was the last time I got laid? Was it because it'd been so long ago that I couldn't remember or was that his eyes distracting me? One thing was for sure, I definitely wasn't thinking about watercress or cattails anymore.

(*coughs* I think she likes him. But I could be totally wrong here. xD)
